When fate brings Carl Jenson to Felicity Chen's yarn shop, she sees dollar signs, not a potential lover. She doesn't have time for romance. The thriving craft business she's building keeps her too busy for love--or so she tells herself. As soon as Carl walks out the door, Felicity starts hoping he comes back. Spending more time with tall, blond and mysterious is exactly the investment in fun that she needs.
Carl Jenson gave up on love years ago. He's an undercover operative with a shady past, and spying for the government of the Restored United States isn't the kind of career that comes with a future. Carl is content to let the days slide by, biding time between jobs, until his recuperating partner drags him back to the knitter's den for more yarn and more flirting.
When Carl walks into into her store a second time, Felicity is ready to grab opportunity with both hands, and she makes Carl an offer he would have to be a fool to refuse. A temporary arrangement is all he can afford, and it’s all Felicity expects. It seems like a perfect bargain.
In the end, they both get a better deal than they ever could've imagined.

I couldn't believe it was over so quick! I'm a knitter so I can only imagine the patience Felicity had with Parker. This short story was witty and you really get to see a side of Carl and Parker that you don't normally see in Controlled Descent. I was sad when I got to the end because I want Felicity and Carl to be together! The way the brothers are able to communicate silently really shows how well written they are.K.M. Here's writes another great story! I can't wait to read the next one. 🙌

knitting, danger, sexy men, whats not to love?
A fun light read, especially for those if us who are fans of both yarn shops and action adventure heros. My fav characters from Control Descent and Flight plan is a delightful short story.
Nice story, actually this novel had a very pleasant knitting twist, but you have to read it to find out about it. I want to read more of this author's work. Thank you f o r the surprise.
Wow….. The style of the story is a wonder. I don’t think I’ve ever run across anything quite like it. It’s terse and spare, a lean greyhound eating up the track – and yet as it speeds along, there are marvelous insights, and epiphanies. Subtle moments are frozen in time so you can examine them from every angle. Dialogue is also spare, yet communication is occurring continuously. The story is deeply intimate – and yet the sex scenes are never shown. They’re not even necessary.
I want to read this again just to make sure I didn’t miss any of the richness. I feel like I KNOW these people just from a handful of pages.
Futuristic, paranormal, sweet, clean and I couldn't put the book down. I also read Novices from this author and it was just as good if not better. I rejoice when I discover a great new author. Strongly reminds me of Sharon Lee and Steve Miller.
Parker! Big, tough, monosyllabic Parker. Violence just barely covered by skin. Knitting! And in the process finding someone who he feels safe enough to let in. He is so my favorite of the whole bunch.
